Canadian or Eastern Hemlock is essential to preserving watersheds, animal habitats, and soil nutrients in the US and Canada. It is a slow growing conifer that can grow in either sun or shade, making this a fairly easy tree to find a space for in your yard. Canadian Hemlock has been steadily disappearing in the eastern United States, and our company works to help transplant hemlocks out of developing neighborhoods, businesses and communities. Help us in the fight against deforestation and ask how you can help with our tree rescue program.
The eastern hemlock is found from Nova Scotia to eastern Minnesota, south to Maryland and Illinois, and along the Appalachian Mountains to Georgia and northern Alabama.
Hardiness Zones: 3 through 8
Planting: good drainage and no strong, drying winds
Light: prefers partial shade, especially in places with very hot and dry conditions.
Maintenance: minimal
We have a big supply of Rescue Trees with our hemlocks. Please let us know if you’d like for your order to be a rescue tree.
